ABOUT EUMANS

EUMANS IS A MOVEMENT OF EUROPEAN CITIZENS WHO TRUST DEMOCRATIC ACTIVISM AS THE ONLY MEANS TO PUT HUMAN RIGHTS, CIVIL RIGHTS, ECOSYSTEM AND QUALITY OF LIFE AT THE FOUNDATIONS OF A FREER AND MORE DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY.

Eumans was founded in 2019 by Marco Cappato. Marco is an Italian political leader known for pursuing political goals through civil disobedience, nonviolence, citizens law proposals and by judiciary actions. Marco Cappato - a MEP from 1999 to 2009 - served as a Member of the Foreign Affairs, the Civil Liberties and Human Rights Committees and was a Vice-President of the European Parliament Delegation for the Relations with the Mashrek Countries. He was the EP Rapporteur on Human Rights in the world in 2007. He is also the founder of the paneuropean ong Science for Democracy

Eumans was first launched in Italy. However, it is meant to be a transnational movement acting at a European level through actual engagement of European citizens from all Eu countries.

WHAT EUMANS DO

Eumans acts as a paneuropean political (non electoral) citizens movement aimed to engage Europeans through democratic initiatives toward common goals for a better life in Europe through a more lively European democracy.

In mid 2019, Eumans contributed to two first ECIs, currently ongoing:

- Initiative for the Respect of the Rule of Law in Europe

- Initiative for a Carbon Pricing to fight Climate Change

More Initiatives will be proposed by 2020 on topics such as welfare, evaluation of public policy, privacy and social network interoperability, stop intensive farming, sexual reproductive health rights, civil artificial intelligence, citizens’ assembly, migrations.

A full Eumans 2020 Initiatives Pack will be developed through a participatory process able to engage people, ONGs, associations and political movements around Europe, and push collaboration and ideas-gathering among European activists toward common European goals.

Eumans aims to take action mainly – but not only – through ECIs.

More democratic processes to be activated in 2020 within Eumans Initiatives are Referendums, strategic litigation, civil disobedience, nonviolent initiatives.
