A European Citizens Initiative on Democracy - Public Meeting on the 13th of March

On behalf of the coalition Citizens Take Over Europe, Eumans, and European Alternatives we would like to invite you and your organisation to an open meeting that will take place next monday, the 13 of March, 5 PM CET on Zoom meeting platform (https://us06web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZEkcOCorDorGdJHUmqIbL0_ZFuNH-BLndcQ).

The objective of the meeting is to discuss the draft text of a potential European Citizens Initative on the most urgent democratic reforms for the European Union, also on the basis of the recommendations elaborated by the Conference on the Future of Europe, that are still inadequately followed up.

As organisations committed to the protection and strengthening of democracy in the European Union we are convinced that only a popular mobilisation with the only instrument of participatory democracy available within the EU could increase the attention towards the mandate of the next European Parliament and European Commission and a serious commitment in putting the people of Europe at the center of the European project.

The meeting we are suggesting on the 13th of March aims at connecting a variety of experts and activists within the European Union, to evaluate the possibility of launching a European Citizens Initiative on democratic innovation way ahead of the European Elections, as a stong rule of law based advocacy and political campaign.

It will precede the Citizens Summit in Gdansk, Poland, from the 17th and the 19th of March where citizens committees for different intersectional demands will be presenting their initiatives and defining transnational civic actions, as much as possible based on participatory democracy instruments. At this link, you can find the program.

We would encourage you to consider joining the coalition, and contact any other persons or organisation you believe would be interested. Together, we can make migration and integration safer across the EU.

We look forward to seeing you on the 13th, and do not hesitate to contact us with any questions or ideas you may have
